Guamote is a small village between Riobamba and Alausí. Here, the local population still lives in circumstances where it seems time has stood still. The guesthouse Inti Sisa supports education projects in Guamote. There is a sewing workshop, a computer room where computer classes are given, childcare and children can get homework assistance. 

 

The indigenous village is well-known for its thursdaymarket. It is not a tourist market, such as Otavalo, where you will find lots of souvenirs but instead a market with animals, meat, vegetables, fruit and fabrics. You will be amazed by the beautiful costumes in bright colors pink, red and green. This is the real Ecuador.
