Located in the southern part of the Andes is the third largest city in Ecuador. Cuenca is considered the most beautiful city in the country and the center of the city-state.
The city is listed as UNESCO World Heritage and impresses you with its colonial facades and beautiful churches, some of which date from the 16th or 17th century. In the lively colonial center you will find a panama hat factory and the best ice cream in Ecuador. 

 

A visit to the El Cajas National Park is definitely recommended as a day tour from Cuenca, or on the way to Guayaquil.
