Best time to go

The coast has two distinct seasons: 

• from December until March it is warm and sunny, with occasional tropical showers

• from June until October it is relatively dry, but colder. The cold Humboldt current is the reason is that humpback whales visit the Ecuadorian coast. This is also causing the notorious guarua: during this period the hazy fog causes that the sun closes off
