Guayaquil is the largest city in Ecuador and with almost 3 million inhabitants the commercial center of the country. Mainly modern building dominate the skyline of Guayaquil because most of the city was destroyed by a huge fire in 1896. The district ‘Las Peñas’ is the only district that was not destroyed and is therefor worth a visit. The oldest district of Guayaqui is located at the foot of the Santa Ana and you will find beautiful colonial architecture, typical of the coast.

One of the tourist main attractions is the "Malecon 2000, a boulevard that borders to the banks of the Río Guayas. Here you will find parks, international restaurants and modern bars.
